The Bureau of Education, Science and Technology

The Bureau of Education, Science and Technology was installed as an official liaison office in KIST Europe on June 30th 2010. The Bureau performs special duties under the guidance of the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST). Its objectives are:

• supporting and facilitating KIST Europe’s endeavor to advance cooperation between Korean and European research institutes, universities and industrial companies in the field of science and technology, according to the original purpose of KIST Europe’s construction
• providing KIST Europe with advice on education, science and technology policies and plans between Korea and Europe
• promoting Korean-European programs including FP programs and others
• promoting the utilization of KIST Europe by Korean universities, research institutes and industrial companies in accordance with Korean government policies
• reviewing the trend and status of education, science and technology in Europe
• supporting official requests and events for the Korean government
• promoting mutual cooperation between Germany and Korea, including the local government

The Bureau is headed by a liaison officer in the rank of a director, dispatched from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for a time of up to three years.
