KIST Europe researchers visited AWSi Mar-08-2024 | |

On March 1th, the Institute Director, Dr. Soo Hyun Kim, and several researchers from KIST Europe officially visited the August Wilhelm Scheer Institute (AWSi) and held a getting-to-Know meeting to explore common research areas and cooperation between the both institutes. The AWSi is a non-profit corporation that receives financial support from the Scheer Foundation and a private research institute founded by Prof. Sheer, a specialist in the development of IT S/W and integrated management systems. Its main research areas include AI-based smart process, smart energy, digital learning, digital green tech and health, providing industrial consulting services to support rechnological innovation of companies from local start-ups to large corporations. During this meeting, KIST Europe introduced detailed topics that are expected to create synergies through collaboration with IT and AI-related technologies for the main research area 'Development of alternative methods to animal testing', and for wearable sensor/patches, domain-linked robotic arms), while AWSi introduced the institute in general and key achievements through demonstrations like predictive maintenance & servicing of remote facilities, AR-based automotive maintenance training platform etc.
After the introduction and the presentation of common topics, the both institutes expressed interests in promoting multidisciplinary joint research through multiple discussions in two directions; (1) Using of wearable sensors in the field of smart health platforms and (2) Application of automation in the filed of biotechnology such as stem cell and agreed to start with talking about personal exchanges deeply. |
