Doctoral position

The Environmental Safety Group of the KIST Europe is offering a PhD position in the field of metabolomics and pharmacokinetics in zebrafish. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with analytical experts and pharmaceutical scientists.

Area of research

The candidate will be involved in a joint research project between KIST Europe and the nearby Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS). Key aspects of the applicant’s work will be the development of early toxicity models in zebrafish, the detection and analysis of predictive biomarkers in the animals, drug screening, and the determination of pharmacokinetic parameters for novel anti-infective agents. This involves in vivo testing with zebrafish larvae and subsequent analysis by high-resolution mass spectrometry including mass spectrometry imaging (MSI). The KIST Europe is the only overseas research institute for Korean government and offers state-of-the-art equipment and a challenging work environment in a multidisciplinary team, composed of chemists, biologists, toxicologists, and bioinformaticians.

Prerequisites

· Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or a related discipline  

· Familiarity with analytical chemistry (HPLC-MS, MALDI)

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· High self-motivation and enthusiasm

· Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
